Ossë idly wandered instead of standing still, having realized that he seemed more likely to attract birds while stationary than while moving. And, he'd never been in a butcher shop before, which had his curiosity piqued as he looked around at the cuts of meat and the animals hung or sprawled out. The chickens were not nearly as interested, and he grumbled as he tried to pull the one off of his shoulder and had talons digging into his skin. "This one should be named naškad," he growled.

“What does that mean?” he asked as he heard the unfamiliar word.  Círdan had long since given up on the idea of knowing the language, so many of the words were nigh unpronounceable to him and they sat awkwardly on his tongue.  They sounded rather uncomfortable to him as well.

One of the butchers looked up and his eyes went wide at the sight of the maia.  None of them expected to find him in their work space but there he was with chickens and a less than thrilled expression because of them.  The shipwright stepped forward, still with a hand over his mouth and nose.  "Ossë has brought chickens for both nesting and for meat, I trust you will pick the best hens for laying eggs?“

The butcher nodded and rounded the table, making quick work of snatching up one of the birds on the ground to inspect it.
