"Perhaps," Ossë agreed, then stopped again and bent to scoop up the two that were racing around his feet. Annoying as they were, he was not about to be made a fool any further. "But even if my birds survived, it would upset the ecosystem. Plant and fish life would suffer because of a population boost this high. They would still have to be killed for food to keep balance, and I would be more upset to see my swans or ducks slaughtered than to kill these chickens."

He nodded in agreement, the maia did have a point and there was no arguing with it.  Reaching up, he lightly touched Ossë’s cheek once more before tugging lightly on a plait.  "Come along,“ he motioned for them to continue on before more chickens managed to appear and before they drew more attention.

He led the way beyond the kitchens and along the path that led back to the butchers.  Círdan was not sure when was the last time, if ever, that Ossë had been to this area.  It was a bit away from the water but the surf could still be heard.
