The Calm Before the Storm

Ossë smiled at the kiss and trilled softly. “He actually doesn’t know I’m coming; a surprise seemed better after far too much consideration. I tell him I’m coming, and he’ll just sit there waiting and thinking and before I even arrive he believes he has my motives, thoughts and actions figured out. If I surprise him, my timing might be poor, but he’ll at least judge me in the moment, for how I act and what I say. No forethought, no hours of considering, just us.” The smile had turned to a smirk and he dipped his head. “Sometimes, we’re a bit too alike. It makes things interesting.”

He brushed his thumbs over Círdan’s cheeks idly as he thought. As he tried to imagine situations reversed and what he would want, how he would want things done, but everything seemed so confusingly jumbled lately. How wrong had he already been, after all. With a shake of his head he refocused and curled his lips into a smile once more. “Tempting as you are, I should probably go before I just call it all off and stay here. Later, I’ll return and stay for a while. I promise.” Leaning in he kissed him gently, dragging it out with little nibbles and swipes of tongue across lips.

“And I will speak to him about you, as well. I can say no more but riddles for now, but if he will not solve them for you, I will. You deserve that much, at least. In the meantime, I assure you, you did nothing wrong. You’re just… guilty by association, I think.” He flashed a grin but clicked beneath it, his forced expression ruined by his genuine emotion. It wasn’t fair for Círdan to be caught in the middle of such a pointless argument, and he would at least see that he was treated better. Let Ulmo’s ire center on him, on the one who could handle it and deserved it, and free the Elf of the pain.

He was not so sure how Ulmo would appreciate or enjoy a surprise, especially once that was going to come with potentially upsetting news.  If the Vala was already on edge to the point where the seas reflected it and his annoyance resonated so clearly even from the depths of the sea, he had to give Ossë credit for his bravery in the situation.  The kiss was enjoyable and to think he was the one being called tempting with an embrace like that.  He was more than content to let it drag on, to keep the other cradled close where he knew he was safe from any wrath or harm.

“How exactly am I involved?” he was trying to see beyond the riddles but that fact threw him for a loop.  He had done nothing as far as he was aware and when he had asked Ulmo, he had only been asked for a few days time before bringing up the subject again.  Now he was dreading bringing it up if he was guilty by association.  With a slight shake of his head, he carefully set the brooch aside before gathering up the petite female fana in his arms.

Círdan stood with a soft grunt and was mindful of Ossë as he helped him stand once more though he was hesitant to let him go just yet.  "I do hope one of you can provide answers for me, but worry more about your relationship with him before involving me.  That is more important.“
