The Calm Before the Storm

masteroftheseas:

“A little of both.” His chatter that time was more genuine as he grinned crookedly up to him. It was so comfortable here and safe that it became more tempting with each passing minute to just wait another day, another week, another century, to just stay here and avoid it all. He curled his arm around Círdan’s shoulders to play lightly with his hair and climb its way up to his scalp.

“Am I doing the right thing?” he wondered, voice soft again. “I’ve debated this so often with so many people but I still doubt. What if this just makes things irreparably worse? What if it’s too much and instead of healing, I just hurt him more? I’ve already hurt him so much.” Even sitting here he knew he was hurting Ulmo, snuggling close to the Elf he had loved.

Círdan shivered a bit as his hair was toyed with and finally blunt nails tickled over his scalp.  He bowed his head closer, letting it rest against Ossë’s own.  He couldn’t blame him for wanting to put off upsetting Ulmo, he could easily recall the innate terror that gripped him at the towering wave with the harsh expression.

“I cannot answer that for you,” he murmured, he was so unaware of what was going to be said and what had been a source of upset between the pair of them.  "I think, deep down, you know what is the right thing to be done and you will follow that,“ he always did in the end. "He was rather distant the other day and I can only hope his mood has improved since then and wish you the best of luck and that if you need somewhere to hide other than his depths, you are always welcomed here.”
