askmiddlearth:

This is the second to last segment of the Silmarillion Reader’s Guide - Part 16! (See this page for Parts 1-15.) It covers the last book of The Silmarillion, “Of the Rings of Power and the Third Age.”

Next week I’ll have a sort of conclusion segment, which will include a major Character Guide. If you think there’s anything that should also be included (any sort of over-arching themes, geography issues, etc.) please let me know, either via Tumblr or my email: askmiddlearth@gmail.com.

Also, after this I’ll be revising the entire Reader’s Guide before (somehow) making it available as one giant file. If you have any issues, suggestions, complaints, things you thought were done well, not well, parts that are still confusing, etc. (or any ideas on how exactly I should make the entire guide available) please please please let me know!

(By the way, the maps are all from Karen Wynn Fonstad’s Atlas of Middle Earth. The first, third, and fifth paintings are by Ted Nasmith, the second painting is by Alan Lee, and the fourth is by John Howe.)
