Poppy blinked, feeling her cheeks flame at his words. She swallowed hard, trying to think of how to explain herself. "I want them to be happy," she began quietly. "And I suppose if remaining here keeps them from it, then they should go." She opened her mouth to continue on, but thought better of it and clamped her mouth closed once more.

“There is no shame in wanting to keep your friends nearby,” his voice was softer and he leaned a little closer as he pointed it out.  ”I will be here until the last ship sails, it is not as though they must leave tonight.  There is still time and my kind have plenty of it to spare.”

He straightened up, motioning out to the sea.  ”The sea does call to us, most hear the siren song once they have seen it or come close to it.  Long, long ago there was a call for us to make this journey and I think that same call is what echoes within us today.  To some it is too much to resist, for others they can bide their time and wait longer.”
