"I should imagine you must love the smells of the surf with how often you're among them. It would be a miserable job otherwise. It's a good thing Lord Ossë does not blow the more pungent odors inland." With a pointed, playful look, he turned his head to look around for anyone looking at them, chin lifted proudly and a grin on his lips.

“He shares them with us each time the tide recedes,” he countered with a chuckle.  He knew he would pay for these words later but it was a nice chance to have his fun now while he could.  

Círdan held the door out of the way for them, letting Ossë enter ahead of him before joining the other and leading the way to the table he normally used.  His seat was different in a subtle way, the back of the chair only a few centimeters higher than the others but it was a way of marking his place as the lord of the havens without drawing unwanted attention to it.  Being polite, he held the chair next to it out for his companion.
